A new book with a magical beginning

Picture
I occasionally start a book only to put it down after reading half.

Many times they're books that have received high praise from highly placed reviewers. I want to like the book, but try as I might, I can't relate. Sometimes I wonder why the book doesn't reveal its magic for me like it does for the others.

But life is too short, and there are too many other good books to read.

Turning chapter after chapter in my first marriage made it more and more difficult to continue. After 19 years of marriage and raising two wonderful sons, I regretfully laid that book aside.

In 2007 I bumped into a man, literally, at a 30th high school reunion. We actually found that we had attended the same kindergarten in the same year. Schoolmates from the age of five – how about that? After hooking back up on Facebook, and dating long distance for what seemed a very long time, I married that man in April 2011, ended a 22-year career as a writer for a major healthcare system, and began a wonderful new chapter in my old hometown.

So now I write daily, but about the things I love. I watch the birds outside my window, take time to check in on my Dad who lives just across town, enjoy planning the garden and the next meal, and enjoy every second of this wonderful new book, where each chapter is indeed magical.
